Wilhelmina Children's Hospital knows how to play!
The new WKZ concept makes hospital visits more pleasant for children. In this new concept, the floors are made up of layers, each floor is a world layer with its own animals and each animal has its own superpower! The worlds of Water, Sand, Grass, Forest and Air connect all departments. The animals in these worlds are representing a department, the Chameleon is the day treatment and is located in the sand department.
To complete the picture, the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital invested in a play concept from IKC. WKZ is even more accessible for young families with this play concept in the waiting room. Playing helps to prevent tension. It provides distraction and a relaxed and calm atmosphere. Doctors and nurses notice the relaxed atmosphere in the treatment room.
What makes this waiting room so special?
IKC developed special custom software for the 17 inch touch screen that was installed. Children can play interactive games and will encounter the recognizable elements from the hospital. The cabinet of the wall modules is also custom made, the various graphics make the modules even more suitable for the room.
The play concept in the Kameleon department was set up in collaboration with the WKZ house architect. Because the design has already been made, the play concept is easy to install in other departments.
Custom made Softplay
Especially for the WKZ we made a custom Softplay Balancer with the recognizable logo of the department; the Chameleon. The balancer has been developed so 2 children can play on it at the same time.
