Waiting for a flight can feel especially long when traveling with children. At Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, Aerostar Airport Holdings created Aerokids: a dedicated play area where young travelers can enjoy their own adventure before taking to the skies.
A play concept inspired by travel
The entire play area brings the excitement of traveling to life. A runway leads through the space, airplanes appear throughout the design and the colorful surroundings are inspired by Puerto Rico and the airport environment.
The play concept combines interactive games with classic play. Children can discover digital games along the wall, play together at the bead table and explore different activities throughout the space. This variety encourages different ways of playing and makes the area engaging for a broad range of young travelers.
Safe, open and easy to supervise
The play area is enclosed with IKC fencing, creating a clearly defined environment within the busy airport. The open design and viewing openings maintain visibility, allowing parents and caregivers to easily keep an eye on their children.
Durable materials and furniture make the space suitable for the intensive use that comes with an international airport, without compromising on the playful experience.
