Südring Center Paderborn
Südring Center, a shopping centre in Germany, commissioned IKC to design and install an eye-catching kids’ playground. Situated in the heart of the shopping centre, the play area makes efficient use of space in a large open area between the shops. Ample walking space remains on both sides, ensuring a seamless flow for visitors. As a family-owned shopping centre, Südring Centre firmly believes that children are the customers of the future. This vision is brought to life in a play corner carefully designed with unique, playful details.
A balance of play and parental comfort
The design caters to both children and their parents. Benches with built-in USB ports surround the playground, allowing parents to charge their devices while their children play. The play area provides a safe and engaging environment for children, enabling parents to shop with peace of mind. By keeping children entertained, parents can explore the shops at their leisure, often spending more time, and money, during their visit.
Fun with the mascot.
The centre’s mascot, a cheerful hamster, is a central feature of the design, appearing throughout the play area. The fencing, for example, features playful illustrations of the mascot created by an artist. The hamster also makes an appearance in several play modules, such as the sliding puzzle. A standout feature is the fully customised Honey Play, designed as a large hamster, making the play area both fun and instantly recognisable for children.
The play area floor is decorated with vibrant shapes and colours, further enhancing its appeal for young visitors. Through this play corner, Südring Center showcases its commitment to providing a welcoming shopping experience for families with children.
