At HEMA Winterswijk, we created a fully custom-made play solution inspired by one of the Netherlands' most iconic children's stories: Jip and Janneke.
The distinctive black-and-white illustrations, Takkie and the simple, warm design bring a touch of childhood nostalgia back to the shop floor.
While parents enjoy shopping at their own pace, children can explore the world of Jip, Janneke and Takkie through play. The result is a play environment that perfectly reflects HEMA's identity and creates a welcoming shopping experience for the whole family.
A play concept completely in HEMA style
The goal for this play corner was simple: create a play environment that feels as if it has always been part of the store.
Thanks to the original illustration style, familiar colour palette and carefully selected materials, the play corner blends seamlessly into HEMA's interior. Every element was designed specifically for this location, demonstrating the possibilities of a fully custom-made play solution.
Interactive play in a compact space
The play corner combines various play elements that encourage children to explore independently, stay active and play together.
With several interactive wall games, the play value remains high while the footprint stays compact, requiring very little retail space. This creates a calm play area that can easily be integrated into almost any retail environment.
Fully themed with custom Forex graphics
To complete the experience, the entire back wall was finished with custom Forex graphics. This allows the illustrations of Jip, Janneke and Takkie to flow seamlessly into the play environment, creating one cohesive design.
