Family-friendly play concepts that enhance the hotel experience

For this project, IKC Play designed and installed several custom-made play solutions that perfectly complement the hotel's interior, brand identity and target audience. The result is a hotel where children can have fun while parents relax, enjoy breakfast, check in or check out in complete comfort.
The Challenge
Ibis Styles The Hague Scheveningen offers several family rooms and has seen a growing number of bookings from families. The hotel wanted to build on this success by further strengthening its position as a family-friendly destination.
The challenge was to create play areas that:
- contribute to a relaxing stay for families;
- can be integrated into multiple locations throughout the hotel;
- require minimal space;
- blend seamlessly with the hotel's contemporary interior;
- reflect the unique hotel theme, "Express Yourself."
In addition, every play solution needed to become an integral part of the overall guest experience rather than feeling like a separate children's corner.
The Solution
IKC Play designed a complete play concept spread across multiple locations within the hotel. Each play area supports a different moment during the guest journey.
Lobby Bar – Relaxation for the Whole Family
The lobby bar features the Delta 17, combined with two Eye Aye Softplay seating cushions.
This compact play solution immediately keeps children entertained while parents can enjoy a drink after a day at the beach or relax during check-in and check-out.
Because the play unit occupies very little space and blends perfectly with the hotel's interior, the lobby remains an elegant and welcoming meeting place for all guests.
Experience Wall – Playtime After Breakfast
A second play area was created next to the hotel's second breakfast room in the lower ground floor, centred around an interactive Experience Wall.
This location was carefully selected, allowing families to enjoy a relaxed breakfast while children continue playing afterwards. Parents can savour a cup of coffee while their children entertain themselves in a safe environment.
A Play Concept Fully Integrated into the Hotel Theme
Every Ibis Styles hotel has its own unique identity. At Ibis Styles The Hague Scheveningen, the central theme is "Express Yourself."
In the lower ground floor, this theme comes to life through music. For this reason, the Experience Wall features an interactive orchestra complete with matching sound effects.
A fully customised Four Fun play system was developed with graphics that perfectly complement the musical theme. Even the green frames were colour-matched to the distinctive Ibis green, ensuring the play area blends seamlessly into the hotel's interior.
The result is a play concept that feels like a natural extension of the hotel and strengthens the overall brand experience.

With these new play areas, Ibis Styles The Hague Scheveningen offers families an even more enjoyable hotel experience.
Children have attractive play opportunities throughout their stay, while parents enjoy greater comfort and relaxation during:
- check-in;
- check-out;
- breakfast;
- time spent in the lobby bar;
- relaxing after a day out or at the beach.
